THE CREATOR

Applied Mathematics, Spatial AI & Creative World-Building

Evan S. Beach

Applied Mathematics & Machine Learning Researcher

Evan S. Beach is an analytical researcher in Applied Mathematics at the University of California, Santa Cruz (Baskin School of Engineering), with a specialized focus on DataOps, machine learning, and spatial AI computing models.

His academic and technical interests range broadly across applied mathematics, computational modeling, and the geospatial side of machine learning — quietly exploring how rigorous analytical methods can be paired with creative tools to build new ways of looking at the world.

Outside of that, he writes fiction and draws maps. The Everlands is an ongoing hand-drawn atlas — a small fictional continent he has been mapping in his spare time. He is also the author of the novel Thus Begins Felicity, along with a collection of short stories and poems.

Thus Begins Felicity

By E. S. Beach

As a group of people transcend philosophy, all abstractions in the story reflect the thoughts of the characters. Astor Wood receives the tutelage of the vicious playwright, Harris Kelley. He, Sylvia, and other characters begin to form new questions. Is nature perfect or imperfect, and is it abstract or concrete? As they gain fame they eventually wind up joining a group of extravagant statisticians. They are then challenged throughout their lush parties by the return of Kelley and the clash between Astor and Angela Dao. Astor and Angela's thoughts mimic the feud between Plato and Aristotle. Their thought processes go on to transform human endeavor.
